Dual Enrollment

Dual Enrollment at Southern Crescent Technical College is your jumpstart on your college career. The Dual Enrollment program saves time and money. With Dual Enrollment you enroll in a college class and get credit at both your high school and the college.

The Dual Enrollment program provides for students who are dual credit enrolled at a participating eligible public or private high school, or home study program in Georgia, and a participating eligible post-secondary institution in Georgia. These students take post-secondary coursework for credit towards both high school graduation or home study completion and post-secondary requirements. Beginning with Fall term 2015 (FY 2016) the program is offered during all terms of the school year; fall, spring and summer semester or fall, winter, spring, and summer quarter.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Dual Enrollment program, a student must:

• Be enrolled in an Accredited tenth, eleventh or twelfth grade of a public or private high school in Georgia or an Accredited home study program within the state of Georgia Operated in Accordance with O.C.G.A. §20-2-690(c).
• Be Admitted to an eligible, participating USG, TCSG or Private postsecondary institution as a dual credit enrollment student.
• Be enrolled in courses listed in the approved Dual Enrollment Course Directory.
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined by the eligible postsecondary institution.
• Have a High School GPA of 2.0 or higher
• If student participates in a non-accredited home study program, student must take the Accuplacer Placement exam.

Cost Effective

Southern Crescent Technical College’s Dual Enrollment is a cost-effective choice, and a great way to save money. Currently Dual Enrollment funding through GSFC covers 30 semesters hours paid. After 30 semester hours have been earned students can Self-Pay or take advantage of the Hope Grant. The more credits earned while in HS the more time and money you save. You can earn enough credits to skip up to two years of college. It can save your parents thousands of dollars on the tradition cost of college by saving on tuition, dorm cost and meal plan.

Deadlines

Be sure to adhere to the application deadlines for both Southern Crescent Technical College and your high school. You will also need to submit an application for Dual Enrollment once per academic year at www.gafutures.org.
